Here you can read about the outplacement projects of AAP since 2011.

There are 7 males in the raccoon group of Kasper: Kasper, Yazoo, Pecos, Opata, Mahican, Vito and Maki. Vito came from a private owner in the Netherlands, whereas the other animals were all found wandering in various countries (Cyprus, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium). At AAP we formed a group with these animals, and found them a new home at Helsinki Zoo.

At the beginning or 2012 an arctic fox arrived that had been found wandering earlier by animal rescue. At first he was given shelter at the bird rehabilitation centre in Zundert. AAP soon found a place for Yaqui in a zoo in Munich, where he would live together with two females. Some time before, Tierpark Hellabrunn already gave shelter to fruit bat Selket.

Bokito and King-Kong, two male grey squirrels, were kept as pets and came to AAP in August of 2010. They belong to the so-called invasive species and are not allowed to be released in the wild in the Netherlands. Since July 2012 there even is a prohibition on owning this species, which makes it illigal to transport, buy or sell them. For these gentlemen we found a place in the South African zo Birds of Eden. There they will be housed in the largest aviary (2 hectares) in the world.

The Squirrel Monkey Binga came from Germany, where she was kept as a pet. The owner abandoned her when he broke up with his girlfriend. Odsherred zoo in Denmark has already given various animals from AAP a new home. Like the 5 common genets we outplaced in december 2011. After her quarantine, Bing was brought to her new home bij one of her caregivers. Upon arrival, she was placed next to her congeners and meanwhile she is living together with a group of other Squirrel Monkeys.

This group of 4 Rhesus Macaques was living with AAP for quite some time. James had even been here since 1989; he was outplaced once before, but eventually had to return to AAP. Year after year we couldn't succeed in finding a new home for these elderly primates. Until finally Lakeview Monkey Sanctuary in England offered to take care of the foursome!
