In the first months of this year, we had already outplaced a number of animals -raccoons and an arctic fox- into this animal park in Belgium, De Zonnegloed. In the process, we entered into a coalition to also home primates at their premises. Ring-tailed lemurs Merina and Masi are the last two animals originating from a zoo at the French island “Ile de la Réunion”, which had been closed three years ago. AAP had rescued animals from this park before, among which the chimpanzees Brigitta, Jeudi and Daza. De Zonnegloed has created new accommodation for these animals and both animals could be rehomed there straight from our quarantine quarters after their quarantine period had ended. Sandra Nijman, the regular caretaker of these animals at the AAP premises, has accompanied them on their way to Belgium.
