Tania’s intake and relocation proved a difficult task. Starting her intake from Spain it was found that this vervet monkey suffers from a rare condition; Cushing’s Syndrome. Her life-expectancy was only a few months. We decided to leave Tania in peace and in Spain with an appreciated rescue partner. After six months, unexpectedly positive news; Tania was doing fine! Her condition was medically stabilized, her life-expectancy looked much better.

Tania and her buddy Ronja eat togetherQuickly the original plan was taken off the shelf. After a quarantine period at AAP, Tania joined the only other available small vervet female in Europe. Her name is Ronja and she lives at Zoo Rostock, where a decade ago a similar animal moved to from AAP (called Brugholino). Tania and Ronja soon became best friends. We wish them a quiet and cosy retirement!
