Non-domesticated exotic animals kept by individuals

AAP is in favour of establishing a so-called 'Positive List'. This list would include all animal species private individuals are in fact allowed to keep. Any other species it would simply be forbidden to sell or own. AAP believes the following criteria should be decisive in composing the Positive List:

  • The well-being and health of the animal
  • The risk of "fauna falsification" (in case animals escape)
  • Public health risks
  • The risk of economic damage (in case animals escape)
  • Possible danger to the owner and his or her surroundings
