Barbary Macaques

AAP cooperates with the Species Survival Network and the World Wildlife Fund to protect the threatened Barbary Macaques in Morocco. Young Barbary Macaques are smuggled on a relatively large scale from Morocco to Europe to serve as pets. After some time the animals are dumped by their owner, because once Barbary Macaques become older, they are not just unsuitable as pets but also dangerous.

Barbary Macaques

The trade in Barbary Macaques is so extensive that it could by itself cause the species to become extinct.
