Circus baboon on a chainTrade in non-domesticated exotic animals (whether legal or illegal), keeping them as pets or in illegal zoos, exploiting them for biomedical research or in the entertainment industry: all of this can lead to serious welfare problems later on.

Recognized within Europe for its expertise in the welfare and care of primates and other non-domesticated animals, AAP advocates a society in which the well-being of exotic animals is not sacrificed. To this end, AAP stimulates and motivates public debate and political decision-making. Together with international partners, AAP's aim is to pressure governments to better implement current laws and to enact new legislation for the protection of animals.
