New home for seven animals from AAP |
|
Since Monday the 10th August, a wallaby, two Japanese squirrels and four degus which had been living at AAP, have a new home. Childrens Play Paradise '‘t Krekeltje' (the little cricket) in Eede in the south of Zeeland, has built new enclosures which conform to the high standards required by Stichting AAP, especially for these animals. Because of this re-housing we now have room at AAP for other animals waiting to be rescued.
The origins of the animals are very different. Rufio the wallaby was found wandering loose near the town of Putten. His previous owner has not come forward. The degus were given up by their owner who had discovered they are not suitable as pets. The two Japanese squirrels Kyushu en Riukiu were bought by a man in Amersfoort who thought it would liven up the neighbourhood if he let them loose! This is an illegal action and he was ordered to catch them and bring them to AAP. ‘t Krekeltje often has school groups visiting the park, and finds it important that young children come into contact with animals and learn to respect them. The behaviour and care of every animal is explained carefully to the children. ‘t Krekeltje also finds it really important to offer the animals a good home where they settle quickly and due to this policy they are an excellent partner for Stichting AAP. Play paradise ‘t Krekeltje is open every day this summer. The childrens farm and playground are free from entrance costs and don’t miss the enormous maize. We hope you visit the animals from AAP there soon and more information can be found on www.dekreeke.nl
