Depana and Tierheim München: saviours in need |
|
An efficient organization made it possible for AAP to quickly fill our newly renovated quarantine with a large amount of animals. By mid-May the new primates' units got finished, and immediately the animals started streaming in. For example, the barbary macaques Chiquito and Fugitive (photo) had been waiting to come to AAP at the Tierheim München, our highly commended partner in Germany. Now we finally had place for them!
Living space and toysDepana (a new and promising rescue-partner of AAP, not in the least because of its location right in the middle of the trafficking route of young barbary macaques) had been taking care of more animals that were eventually supposed to go to AAP. Guenon Moussa was 23 years old and had spend all her life in a parrot's cage. At Depana, she joined a group of barbary macaques and finally got some living space and toys to play with. Still, it's better for her to mix with a group of her own species, and that is a chance she will now be getting at AAP! ![]() FutureWith Moussa, two raccoons arrived from Depana, and since we were passing through France anyway we also picked up a raccoon in Toulouse. All of these animals will have a good life at AAP, and hopefully a bright future once placed permanently with one of our outplacement partners. We cannot thank our rescue-partners enough for their emergency help. Without them, these animals wouldn't have had any future whatsoever!
