Blog: AAP & LLoc de Menorca Centre Zoologic

News - News  |  Friday, 20 July 2012

Last spring Stichting AAP established contact with Lloc de Menorca, a family run zoo in Menorca which opened in 2007. The contact was new for both institutions (we got in touch via FAADA, a Spanish animal welfare organization) but since the beginning it was clear that we both share the same common goal which consists in helping exotic animals in need and offer them the best future possible. Since that moment we have started building up a relationship which we hope will soon culminate in a common project.

One representative from Lloc de Menorca has recently visited Stichting AAP. During his week visit, he spent time in the different departments to learn more about AAP and our professional way of working. He has had the opportunity to exchange information with our professional staff; veterinarian, behavior specialist, experienced primate and small mammals caregivers, etc. Lloc de Menorca considers that this visit has been very useful and has enabled them to learn more about animal care, environmental enrichment, enclosure design and primate socialization among other topics.

For AAP, cooperation with zoos like Lloc de Menorca is very much needed. Only when our animals find suitable permanent housing, we can keep on rescuing animals, otherwise our facilities get full!

We are both very happy with this exchange and enthusiastic about our current projects which we will inform you about soon.
