AAP's animals happy with championship flags |

The Dokkumer Vlaggencentrale (flag factory in the city of Dokkum) had printed 15,000 championship flags, in the build-up to the World Cup Final. It was a gamble, but a gamble with 50% chance... Unfortunately, the other 50% won. However, the company had well calculated its chances, as only 2,500 flags remained unsold. These will go to charity, the company decided. People were asked for ideas to which charity the flags would be given. From a thousand ideas, the company selected several small projects and two charities: Stichting Luma and... AAP! This morning, David van Gennep, general manager at AAP, went to Dokkum to collect 300 flags. AAP will use them as hammocks for the animals.
SympatheticBecause of the size of the flags, they can also be used as a visual partition between groups of monkeys, so the animals will get more privacy and rest. Production manager Johan Schaafsma of the Dokkumer Vlaggencentrale didn't mind at all that the flags would not be used as fluttering flags en would probably not stay clean. "We think that Stichting AAP is a very sympathetic charity. Besides, eleven monkeys are named after the Dutch soccer team."
