A new future

Within less than a month ten inhabitants have swopped the mammal department for a permanent home.

The two white eared marmosets, Ibero and Cerrada have moved to the German Metelen Zooa park with an enthusiastic (Dutch) owner who appreciates the work which is done by AAP. In 2007 ten raccoons found a good home there and in 2009 the two koatis Ben and Boody were offered a run of 1000m2 plus the good company of four ladies. In Metelen, Ibero and Cerrada have their own wonderful enclosure.

Coati UnitaThe Belgium park Bellewaerde, which is an an old friend of AAP, hospitabily received three coatis, the male Yahzi and two females, Hopi en Unita; Unita lived for many years in a dark shed, in a cage on top of the cage of her mate Ben. They could hear and smell each other but had no physical contact. Hopi and Yahzi were found separately , in the wild in Belgium. After a difficult start the threesome formed a good group and we were happy to let them go.

Grivet CookieWonderful life

The most spectacular outplacement concerned the Rockys group of grivets. The group which includes the much loved Cookie from the adoption program, has a new home in a fantastic nature reserve in Malawi. A few years ago AAP sent three Sykes monkeys to the rescue annex reservation at Lilongwe Wildlife Centre in Milawi. Now Rockys group has the opportunity to enjoy a life of (semi) freedom in their country of origin.
