Prevention: method

Caretaker releases prairie dogFrom the trenches to the meeting table

Our daily work around animals serves as a starting point for our activities in the public arena. The animals taken in at AAP are living examples of the problems occurring with non-domesticated exotic animals. Hearing about and dealing with new cases on a daily basis, we directly pick up on new trends and developments in the (illegal) market. And our hands-on experience can often be applied to the situation of animals that AAP doesn't take in as well.

Making the difference

Providing shelter to non-domesticated exotic animals is AAPs core task. A place at our rescue centre is often the last resort for individual animals that are stuck in an intolerable situation and have nowhere else to go. But merely offering shelter is not enough. The problem lying at the root of a particular animal's situation needs to be addressed too. Rescuing a baboon from a circus will not make much sense if the circus goes on to buy a new one.
